Hi Mona, my parents live in Olive Branch MS. And we used to live in Biloxi way back in the early 70's. Do you know of any good spots that are open to search near Memphis? I have been trying to research sites that don't take a lot of dealing with red tape. I am thinking about making the trip this summer if I can get away frm work. I read an article about a lost cache of coins near Alamo TN and might give it a try but would rather stay near the Memphis area. Anyway, good luck with your hunting.

Hey! Been to Herkimer looking for diamonds and had a great time.
Sorry, hit the wrong reply! So how do you like Arizona? I sure would like to look for some gold out there sometime. Have you ever looked? Which method? did it work? I would like to take my family on vacation out there and spend a week or two looking. Do you know of any places where we could camp or rent a cabin right at a site known to produce gold? I think we would just be interested in panning/sniping and or coin/relic shooting around old sites. Any info would be greratly appreciated.

Bear Man,  are you a member of GPAA?
If so or you decide to join them, they have several claims in Arizona you could use.  If not, you might want to consider this :

It has the additional benefit that Prescott is considerably cooler during the summer than is the Phoenix area.
Personally, I haven't spent nearly as much time out looking for gold as I would like to, but I have found some color in my pan.  (most of what I've done so far has been panning, but I've been gathering the materials for a dry washer to use in the dryer parts of the state---I'll still take my concentrates home to work, though)
