Go with the ACE 250. It has new technology, only uses 4 x 'AA" batteries, weighs less, costs less and will go deep . it also has reasonably priced accessory coils available too.

Yes cheap but loaded with all the goodies of a high end detector i am sure it would find you lots of goodies in the UK  goodluck

Welcome LDR, I have to agree with the reccommendation of the Ace 250, I've owned and used several different brands of detectors(and still do) over the years, but I always end up using the little "yeller feller" (250).  It's very light weight, and has all of the bells and whistles that you need, plus the cost is very reasonable.

Although I'm not familiar with the lay of the land down in Gloucester here is an address for one in Stroud.

Welcome to the forum LDR.  I would also have to agree that if you're looking for a good detector that won't cost you a whole lot starting out and all then the ACE is the key.
