Go Up Go Down

I am new to metal detecting. I am retired and live in South Carolina the upstate part. I have a cheap detector but its not working very well.

I am looking for a new or used in good shape detector. I also need to know the laws and rules so I don't get locked up. I am 68 years old and
I don't think jail would be good for my health.

I would like to detect in some fair grounds that have been around for a long time. Don't know if legal at old fair grounds or not they still have fairs
there once each year.

Suggestions would be nice on me a good detector at a good price one that is good at the beach or in the mountains, any help would be greatly
appreciated.

From the land of the Bluenose.....there is a code of ethics for detecting and hopefully someone has it close at hand or ask.  Welcome abaord.  Check your state laws and private property only when you have permission...a tad different here in Canada.  Sure folks will help and welcome to the forum.

Welcome from Kansas! Check any second hand stores, pawnshops, consignment auctions or estate sales. I checked out craigslist in your area, there are a few used bounty hunters at a reasonable price. There is some authority that can give you the nod at the fairgrounds. Just asking permission from private owners should give you more ground to detect than you can use. Good luck!

Welcome from Arizona.   It's hard to give blanket advise about where you can hunt.  Every state and every city/town has different rules.

have fun.
