Hello. My name is Brian and am kind of new to metal detecting. I live in the quad cities in iowa. I was wondering if anyone else lived in the same area and could possibly tell some good places to hunt.

Brian, I'm not familiar with the area, but I want to say "Welcome" to the Thunting forum, from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!   Welcome  Someone will be along soon to tell you what your need to know!   Good Luck!   Do you have a detector?  If so, what brand and make?

I have a whites classic 2. Hoping to move up in the near future, but for now it does the job.

Welcome from sunny Spain,
You must have your coil over a target,in other words get out as often as possible

I'm shocked that you got no advice at all. Welcome.

Now, pick up your detector. Go outside your front door. Hunt either side of the path from your front door to the sidewalk. Then, turn either left or right and hunt along the sidewalk. Either side or both. When you complete that task, Start over and then turn left.

People walking, jogging and getting in and out of cars drop things. Your mission, should you accept, is to find them. Good luck.

Your White's Classic 2 is a good, solid machine.  It will certainly do the job for you as a beginner and help you learn the ways of metal detecting.

I'm with GD, I'm surprised nobody from Iowa has given you any advice about the area, yet!  But like the guys say, get out there and put your coil over a target.  Try your own yard, too, front and back,   Good Luck!    Let us know how it goes for you.             Detecting
