 Hi all fellow treasure hunters

  Hello

Hi to all fellow forum members. Trailduster here. I am a brand new treasure hunter. I just ordered my first metal detector ( Minelab e trac). It comes with a sunray pointer and a swingy thingy, a couple spare batteries and rain cover. I also ordered the lesche digging tool. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I feel there is a lot of history in this area and hardly see anyone else doing detecting in my area. I've always wanted to get into the hobby, but didn't want to bother with junk equipment. I really didn't want to be digging up pull tabs and other junk so that I would be turned off the hobby. So I waited untill I had the money to buy something decent. It'd be great if any of you have any helpful tips to pass on. Looking forward to all the great advice and input from all you seasoned veterans. Also if any of you live near me , it would be  great to hook up with a couple fellow detectors. Great

Trailduster! Great moniker! Welcome from Kansas. Great picks on your equipment. You should hit the ground running.

Thanks to all who have welcomed me and the positive comments. Really getting excited to start. I think I'm passing the bug on to the wife as well. She wants in on the action too. I'm sure I'll be buying a second detector soon. Maybe an excaliber 2, so we can scan the water too.

Welcome from Arizona.   You are right about you living in an area with a lot of history.   We have had members post really interesting finds from Ontario.   As for not wanting to dig pull-tabs, even with your minelab, you're still going to pull them (or else your going to leave a lot of good stuff behind).   You just won't dig quite as many of them.
