Go Up Go Down

hi, i have spent several years researching this story and I can deffinently say that this story did happen, but where excactly these spit fires are hidden is anyones guess. The property where they were delivered to was indeed Darwin waters as war archive say the delivery was made by rail during ww11. No one new of this property but the delivery was made. I found that Charles Edwin Darwin loved chillago and married a woman with the last name waters (I found this out through Ancestry.com). They owned a property north east of chillago named Darwin Waters (council archives confirm this). The property was sold with this name up untill tha late eighties where it was then split up to form smaller properties, this is where it gets complicated as excact property boundaries have been distorted and original or old maps on these areas are hard to find. You can go to any of the local watering holes in and around chillago and talk to the old blokes at the bar and they all say it happened, only once did i here of an old bloke knowing of the location but have not been able to locate him (probably dead or dosen't exist) but I hope that maybe someday someone might know a little more. I suppose I like the mystery around lost items and the history it holds yes there are riches to be found but honestly I think luck and chance have more to do with finding something.I am also into finding lost Australian Aboriginal artifacts and tribal ancestors.

look forward to reading more interesting articles from everyone

thanks dave

Hey Dave Welcome from Texas.

All I know about this was second hand info told to me by a WW II historian. To the best I can remember is an old prospector/ miner found a cave/mine full of boxes of plane parts sometimes in the 1950's and the legend grow from that. I think some more research is need on this one and keep us update its a great story.

Seldom
