New user from SE Kansas,

Hi there.  I'm relatively new and haven't made any postings yet so am starting to get nasty grams.  Well, here goes.  I'm recently retired from a large Aerospace company.  I use a Whites MXT and Eagle II and have some lesser detectors for the Grandkids to use.  My wife and I live in an old brick Victorian that was built around the 1st of the century.  We also own a small vacation cabin in south central Colorado.  I joined the GPAA a few years back.  I love to hunt for gold in Colorado; have found some meteorites too. (Between fishing trips and working in the yard.)  We have an old used highbanker and 3" dredge which are still setting in the yard pending the purchase of a high pressure pump, hoses, etc.  In the mean time we do alright just using a couple of old sluice boxes and gold pans.  I would love to hear from others in our area with similar interests.

Hello from CT. Sounds like you fairly well setup for detecting and doing some gold prospecting also.  How is the GPAA membership working? Often wondered about that.
Jim

Hi there Jim,

I imagine it somewhat depends on where you intend to prospect and how serious you want to get.  For Colorado, I think it's likely worth the bucks.  I've had limited luck with the very few GPAA claims I've investigated so far.  (Probably my inexperience)  The GPAA may be a bit of a teaser to get you to join the LDMA. (Which costs more but may have more potential.)  In visiting one of the Colorado GPAA claims I ran into a GPAA member that clued me into another spot on public land. That location was within 3 miles of the GPAA marker and was one I was totally unaware of.  That location turned out to be a bit more lucrative and I would not have readily found it without my association with GPAA. I think it's the potential contact with other GPAA members and the friendships that may develop that may warrant membership and are the "True Gold" to be discovered.
