Please, all those new members post here so we know where you are from, what types of items you hunt and a bit about yourselves.
I live in Whitby Ontario Canada, I use one of the new T2 Machines, and I hunt Military and older sites for relics..no beach or park hunting for me!! LOL

Here in Canada the older sites only date back to the late 1500s-early 1600s and they are hard to find.

Most War of 1812 Battlefields have been built over so we do our research in the long winters to find sites in the spring.

My main intersts are..War of 1812, US Civil War, WW1 and WW1 and WW2 POW camps.
There is a WW2 POW camp not far from me and all the buildings are still standing..it is at a town called Bowmanville Ontario and was called Camp 30.
I have not yet got permssion to hunt the area, but I do have permission to hunt the field next to it where the Guards had their buildings. I have found 3 WW2 German badges, several buttons, .45 cal rounds and a hand made ring there.
I hope to hit the camp proper in the spring.

This camp was for high ranking Officers..they recieved new uniforms and insignia, full pay, they had a farm, full sports kit and a canteen that provided beer and wine.
I have many original photo postcards of this camp and the POW..can't wait to get in there.

I am always looking for dug pre-1945 Military items that are dug..1700s onward.

Lets get this forum going!!!!

HI Gang!

Bill Pierce now living in Scotland from the USA! I was a frequent poster on the old TTHN and enjoyed the site! I still use LRL's and have some luck and metal detect! Oh but this summer has been a bummer I fractured my hip and had a repair done on it here in the UK and I will say excellent care given to me over here! But hoping next year I can go out and do my treasure hunting. Hey Dave and Jim Peterson, sure glad Christian has found you guys, remember the good old days?  God Bless!!!

Bill

I'm from UT, I like prospecting and exploring old Spanish mines, but mostly I just chase wild geese!

Mike Hillis here, reporting in from Albuquerque, New Mexico.   Grin

Hi all,

Been metal detecting for close to three years now.   Last count showed that I've gone through 17 machines looking for that special fit, and that number includes some I've tried twice Shocked

Currently use a Golden MicroMax/Cleansweep combo for clad, use a T2 for high mineralization sites and places with lots of iron and nearly everywhere for anything.   Recently bought me an Explorer II so I can have a good notch discriminator (like to play).   Also have a Cortes (my second one) that I love to look at and sometimes hunt with (just can't handle a single tone very long) that I will probably trade soon for another CoinStrike.  I really liked the CoinStrike.  Great sidewalk strip hunter.

Hunt just about everywhere.  Schools, parks, ghost towns, private property, sidewalk strips, and hope to get some nugget hunting in every now and then now that I've got a nice nugget machine (T2).

My wife hunts with me some.  Her favorite is the Golden MicroMax.  Got her a ACE-250, but she's not all that impressed with it  Huh?

Anyway, looking forward to visiting with you all.

Most addicting hobby!

HH

Never held a metal detector in my hand until I bought a Bounty Hunter 3300 last month. Now I need to spend some time learning how to use it. So far, I've only found pennies (all zinc except for a 1935 wheat), and an old army military pin. As I learn more I hope to become more successful at this new hobby. BTW, I live in Greenville, SC.

Dear Kate,

thanks for signing up at our forum and welcome aboard!

I hope you will soon find some nice stuff with your XLT! I have been using one for years and it is a really fine machine. However it sometimes helps a lot to switch over to some custom programs instead of the factory bild in. You can also find some of them on this website.

Best wishes,

Christian
