 i live in tn, where the ground is mostly clay, and extremely hard to dig.  any suggestions on how to dig soil that is hard as cement?

One fellow I know uses a large, dulled wood auger in a portable battery operated drill. He drills down on both sides of his target before prying up the middle with a giant screwdriver. We have similar conditions here in parts of the desert.

Hey, langsy, welcome to THunting.com.   Short of GD's suggestion, you're going to need a very strong blade with a sharp edge and preferrably some serrations if you're going to saw through grass and roots, too.   Use the search function to search for "digging tools" for previous discussions.
