Hi all,
Im new to the site and I apologise in advance for posting this when there are probably a dozen or more like it already but I need to get at least 5 posts up before I can download files ( and right click to fix speeling mistaces  No no!).

So anyway I want to make something that I can use to tow behind the boat to detect metal objects in the water.
Looking for anchors is one aim but looking for wrecks in deeper water would be cool too.

So how easy is it to build such a device and how good will the results be?

I have some electronic experience and a lathe/ mill at hand.

Hi Packhorse.    Welcome from Arizona.   I suggest you go to our home page and scroll down the list of boards until you find the Tech Talk section.   There you will find a board dedicated to magnetometers and another on DIY.   If you don't find your answer already posted in one of those sections, one of the regulars there can probably answer it.
