Go Up Go Down

Hi, I'm new to the site and to treasure hunting.  About 20 or so years ago I met a man who used to do some gold panning near Coker Creek in South Eastern TN.  He didn't tell me much about the area but I've driven through there and it seems pretty remote.  Does anyone know about the area or spots where my wife and I could get stared doing some basic panning?  Thanks.

Hello, I am new here also, but I spent a week in North Carolina around murphy and we tried for the first time panning C [wise]oker creek in TN we loved it, did not find anything but it was still fun, the hardest part was trying to find a gold pan. Coker creek was the first real gold rush in the US but you can google that information. We really want to go back and give it a real try.

Cheesy Well rather than choosing area, I would advise you to build your own metal detector first. get used to its operations and signals and then sky is the limit for you.

Good advice. Get a metal detector.

Some of the old "mined out" creeks do recover, somewhat, as it seems every winter brings down fresh gold. A detector will help you find the black sand, and  if the creek historically had nuggets, there will be some that were missed and some new.
