I recently bought a Tesoro DeLeon and have had good luck at finding coins (and alot of juck), I don't have much luck finding nickels! More times than not I will dig a nickel signal and it will be a pulltab. I need some guidance....

Hey Jack Welcome from Texas

I have never used the Tesoro DeLeon  but have used other Tesoros detectors and like all if you discriminate out pull tabs you also loss the nickels thats just the facts of life. A few tabs and nickels will get though but not many. If you want to find nickles turn down the discriminator and dig some tabs. I and several others here dig everything you don't want to loss that little ring because your detector is saying its a pull tab

Yep, discriminate out pull tabs you also loose the nickels , small gold rings and stuff.

Bummer , Eaaa?

Dig it all and find it all.

hey, hatchetjack.   Welcome to THunting.com.
  Seldom and homefire are feeding you the straight scoop---now you have to make up your own mind whether possibility of finding a valuable nickel is worth the hassle of dealing with pulltabs or not.   Just keep in mind that if you get enough pulltabs, you can convert them to nickels at the recycling center.   Wink

Hatchetjack. Seldom, Homefire and BA ar right on target. They are so old they are "BD" Before Discrimination Grin Same school I came from. Ya might even find some small rings after opening up the discrimination. At least crank it back to tin foil for a try...

Yep , Before Discrimination.   Hell, I'm before The Tube.

I was crawling on my all fours looking for stuff.

If you want it you have to dig it!

TDI, Lies.   Computers Lie.    I love people that Love TDI.   I can walk over there spots with My ancient Audio Analog thingy Doer and get down to 8 or 10" and dig it all.   Gold Rings,  Coppers, Small Gold Nuggets, Oh Yea did I mention Gold Nuggets?

Some times OLD is good.   

Did you Know that Vacuum Tubes can survive a Nuclear Strike and Transistors will Toast?

The Russians had it Right back in the 60's......

A Russian Defector showed up on a USAF Airfield one day.  After Dissecting the SU-XXX it was found they used Mini Vacuum tubes through out the whole thing.

We Laughed.

Later they figure out it would had withstand a Nuke Strike within 100 miles and still functioned.

Our Transistorized Micro Circuit stuff would have toasted.  EMP is a Bad Thing.

I,ve  been thing for about 8 years and use a tesoro de leon detector and always run with my disc turned way down so i don't miss nickles or rings.9 out of 10 times if it says nickle it will be a nickle.i have a box full to prove it
