Go Up Go Down

Hi everyone,

I am quite new to this and just started metal detecting after obtaining a Vintage Bounty Hunter RB7.  I did my first lot of metal detecting on a beach at Port Macquarie and dug up this chinese coin which I suspect was part of a surfie's necklace medallion Grin
I'm quite excited about my first find.  Oh and by the way, I did find a lot of trash which I disposed of thoughtfully and I also made sure I refilled and covered up all my holes  Smiley
I look forward to more finds.

Hard to say. Huh?
I have got a lot of Chinese coins in the Victorian goldfields but your coin looks different.
One side looks like a coin side the other not. Perhaps it?s not a coin.
You can find more info about Chinese coins in here

Thanks nickel_n for your reply with the chinese coin reference link.

You're probably right that it may not be a coin at all.  Its quite thin and its probably some ornamental medallion from a necklace.  It was still exciting to find.  I'm having fun reading all the forum posts as well as planning my next detecting session.
Cheers
loujim

It's not a coin in the normal sense of currency. For fung shui purposes, ornamental "coins" are hung at appropriate areas of the house to attract wealth; you seem to have found one of them.
