Minelab Excalibur 1000, Excalibur II 800, Explorer XS

Cabochris here!  Hi to all.  Just joined forum and like it.  I'm mainly a shallow water hunter and often travel to Caribbean to hunt for lost gold in the sea.  My detector of choice is the Minelab Excalibur.  They love gold!

I've done some nugget shooting and general land hunting with all sorts of detectors in the past and enjoy our hobby.  I just purchased a semi-modified Explorer XS off the EB auction site and am looking forward to trying it on gold jewelry.  I'm most interested in how it will compare to my Excalibur II 800 and Excalibur 1000 in saltwater/sand and hoping FBS is more of a good thing.  Years ago I was told by a World treasure hunter that Explorers liked gold.

I guess I like to modify detectors.  If I do not feel one with a detector I get rid of it.  Sometimes a simple modification makes things just right, or gives a serious advantage- like my custom Excalibur headphones.  My new XS has been altered.  It sits on a custom made aluminum S rod.  The battery pack has been cleverly waterproofed and can be mounted on belt or under arm cuff.  It has some sort of aftermarket larger coil and it resembles an oversized Tesoro machine.  The headphone jack plugs into the backside of housing.  The mods look good and professional.  If I like the way this detector performs at the beach, I may look into waterproofing the electronics.  HH- CC.
