Hi All!
Well consider me addicted. After selling an article to Yahoo about Chris Turner of the Ringfinders.com, I have become heavily immersed in metal detecting. I had never even held a detector before and after seeing all of his finds and reuniting people with lost items, I became very interested. I have probably viewed over a thousand videos on YouTube of all kinds of detecting, and gotten familiar with many members of the community worldwide.
Over the fall I had done some work for a guy and noticed he had a metal detector in his shed, still in the box. He had never used it. In lieu of some payment, we agreed I could take the detector. It was a little beginners Bounty Hunter Gold Digger but it was just enough to hook me in. I live in a historic town outside of Boston and was hitting stuff in the dirt almost immediately.
As you can imagine, I grew out of that model rather quickly and ended up doing a small step up with a trade on Craigslist for another Bounty Hunter but this one a bit more advanced. It is the 2200 Discovery, so still no great shakes but I am learning a ton and finding some great stuff.
I still have not dug a silver or found any rings but I have been at this seriously for about 2 months. As you may know, New England is now frozen and buried so that has impeded search efforts. I have been looking on Craigslist in the Lost and Found to see if I can help locate snowbound jewelry, keys, phones etc. Hope to help someone soon.
I have looked at a lot of forums but this one seemed the most complete so thanks for having me aboard and I look forward to any and all stories, suggestions and lessons.
Thanks and Great Digging!
Fitzy
