Greetings everyone, my name is Badger. I spent 6 years in the US Army as a 19D Cavalry Scout. I am located in Washington state near Seattle. I just purchased my 1st metal detector, a White's Coinmaster, & took it to the beach today to give it a try. After 30 minutes I found lots of gum foil & a nearly mint condition binder clip. Excited to plan some serious expeditions and get some local research done. My interests are metal detecting, ghost-towns, & horde/cache finding. Glad I found this forum, it seems pretty active.

Regards, Badger

Hey Badger, I am new here as well. I was at Ft. Bliss for 4 years (2/6 ADA) working out of White Sands most of that time. I tested new weapons systems for the Army. Good to see a fellow Vet here!

Happy Hunting! Hooah!

Hey, Badger.   Welcome from Arizona.   My wife's family is from Port Orchard so I got to spend some time up in your neck of the woods before her grandma died.  I'm looking forward to going back (this time with an MD).

@ drpepper - I'll definitely be using some local playgrounds to practice, thanks for the tip! I went to the Dr Pepper museum down in Waco, Texas, a few years back. A 3 story tall red brick building of Dr Pepper history. Lotsa fun.

@ K5EXX - I was with the 1/2 ACR down in Fort Polk, Louisiana & moved up here to Fort Lewis when the regiment moved back in '05. HOOAH!

I found the Cascade Treasure Club online and will be going to their monthly meeting tomorrow in West Seattle. Hope to make some contacts in person there. It'd be great to have a mentor with the MDing. I've watched hours of youtube videos on technique but textbook & field work is always different.
