Underwater treasure hunting! I want to focus on a not-found-non-salvaged-yet wreck (still have to pick one) and go for it.

Thanks Christian,

Caribbean. I'm interested in galleons of the "flota de Indias". I think the Florida-Bahamas-Cuba area is a good starting point.

I just came back from Islamorada, FL, but looks like there aren't many possibilities to get to the shipwreck places unless you have your own boat.

Yes, you will either have to rent a boat or get your own. Also teh gear involved can be expensive. YOu will need a magnetometer and side scan sonar, airlifts etc. In teh first step it can be pretty costy.

Please keep us posted!

Thanks for the info and happy new year!

Yes, I know that everything involved is expensive, this is why it's a long term project. So far I'm a certified diver and I'm building a metal detector (Hammerhead I by Carl Moreland). I've also purchased some treasure hunting books. My next diving trip will be somewhere in the Caribbean looking for gold coins, but this time I'll plan it better!!
