Garrett Ace 350

Hi all I am just getting started into my new hobby of metal detecting and as such was wondering if anyone could advise what is a good all round metal detector. I live in Rockhampton Qld and have been researching old US Army camp locations etc and am keen to start but as a newbie am getting very confused about what make a good detector and have been researching the Garrett ace 250 or 350. I will be doing this just as a weekend warrior not as a full time career however want something that is at least capble of actually detecting, any advise would be great.

If cost is no object, go with the 350. The extra features are worth the difference.

Before you make a final decision, look here for some affordable options with some great capabilities. Australian design and Australian warranty.

Jack Lange has done a fine job of designing three machines, all capable of doing what you can with the Ace series.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I contemplated the exact same question just a couple years ago and decided on the 350 myself. I like it. Unfortunately I don't get out enough, but when I do - it's been very helpful and fun.
Good luck, and Welcome from Utah!
Hope to hear more about your finds when you do get a new MD!
