Hi Folks,
New member from the north east Victorian alps in Australia (read old gold country).
I am a nearly retired electrical engineer, currently designing and about to start building a vlf induction balance unit. Trying to understand optimum sensitivity and discrimination. They are tricky little suckers aren't they...and there is more to coil design than first meets the eye.  For the engineers among you I design with LTSpice and of course I am struggling to simulate coil behavior, especially with an in-range target - all part of the learning process.

But I must congratulate you all on a great forum with a wealth of information and experience. Hopefully my simple little project will bear fruit and I can add to the knowledge base here.

John

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hi Mick,

So what part of the NT?  I am ex Darwin and a Tracy survivor. Also lived in Alice and Isa. Wonderful memories from a seriously miss-spent youth.

Welcome from Kansas! You will find a lot of GREAT help here. I will be lurking to see your design progress, even though it is something akin to a golden retriever watching a tennis match. Nothing to contribute, don't even understand but fascinated.
