I am an older guy at 61 and have some physical problems that keep me from getting around as well as I used to, but still have the itch. I have been interested in lost mines and treasures, and just general prospecting for longer than I care to think about. Also as of late I am getting interested in older missing aircraft, (lost years ago) and other old mysteries, I am from Oregon born and raised there, so if anyone has some stories or information they would like to share about that part of the country, or you just want to chat please say hello

Hey Smoke Welcome from Galveston Island

There's a story about 2 planes in a lake I think it was in Oregon that crashed in the 60's

Hey Smokepoler, welcome to THunting.com.

I'll check with my wife to see if she picked up any leads from her family (Oregon and Washington types).   I'll also check my library as I picked up a few books on Oregon history when my in-laws lived in Sweet Home.   Maybe I can find something that will be of interest.

Thanks BA, I appreciate that. I am familiar with the Sweet Home area, Do you still have family there? Do you ever do any prospecting there in AZ?

Unfortunately, the last of my wife's family moved out of the Sweet Home area a couple of years ago.   We haven't been there in about 4 years.    I've done a little bit of prospecting in AZ, plan to do more.   I've got a couple of unclaimed sites I really want to check out that are close to historically productive places.

BA that sounds like great fun. A friend and I have four claims close to the old townsite of Auburn, not to Far from Baker City, it is mostly pockets but we usually get a little in every bucket we work. The interesting thing for me is an old drift that we found, actually there are two of them, the upper one has been reopened and has a nice vein of rose quartz going down the wall, towards the lower drift which we are in the process of opening back up.I love being up there , have found old bottles, broken tools , just all kinds of stuff.
hey Heathen,
Didnt mean anything bad, lol, I just know how my body feels after a day on the end of a shovel or walking up and down hills. You should have some interesting places there in Southern Idaho

I JUST JOINED THIS SITE MYSELF IT IS GREAT TO LEARN FROM OTHER PEOPLE. INSTEAD OF FROM A BOOK, OR TRYING TO FIGURE EVERYTHING OUT FOR YOURSELF. MY LEARNING CURVE HAS SHOT WAY UP FROM THIS SITE. I KNOW OF 2 PLANE WRECKS IN ELKO COUNTY NEVADA. ONE IS QUITE A WALK TO GET TO BUT THE OTHER IS PRETTY CLOSE TO THE ROAD I WILL DO MORE RESEARCH AND LET YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. DAN F.
