Wow, what a busy and comprehensive site this is!! Pretty Eurocentric. Is there much for us here in Australia, besides interesting English. European and American history, geology and explanation of detectors for other locations and conditions rather than Australia?

Hello and welcome to THunting.com

Obviously you've mainly been reading recent posts.   Now that the seasons are reversing, our Australian contingent will become MUCH more active while our northern hemisphere members will grouse about cabin fever and bad weather keeping them out of the field.  (Although even during these "lean" times for the Southern Hemispshere we have a cadre of Australians, New Zealanders, and South Africans who keep us on our toes and make sure we don't lose the global perspective).

BA in Arizona.

Hullo again.
In 2004-5 we drove around Australia (the circumference basically) for 15 months in a Toyota Prado with a roof-top tent.Without dog (dogless at the time) we explored National Parks and camped in as many Parks that we could in NT and WA. A fabulous journey.
Then we acquired the dog (again). We travelled with her from Uluru on the Great Central Road across to Laverton (and beyond). A bit squishy with the rooftop tent. She's not a small dog so she has half the back seat of Prado.
Then.. in August 2009 we purchased a small caravan with off-road capabilities and now feel we're travelling in luxury and the dog has a glorified dog kennel. We've owned the caravan for over a year now and enjoyed our 5 months on the Eastern Goldfields in WA.
Cannot wait to go backin 2011.

The place is crawling with Aussies, mate. Welcome from the Perth side.

I'm the Yank Seldom was talking about. Been here a long time though. Welcome aboard!
