Welcome from New Mexico.    Go have a look in our Prospecting Forum.   Washington has a good few post in there.   Start at the Top and Read until you get some Ideas.

Welcome from Arizona.   Homefire and Xavier have both given you good advice.   Other good advice is to join GPAA and use the directory they send you so you can access their claims.   Membership also includes a newspaper that updates the directory when claims are added or deleted.

The best thing to do here on this site is to fallow the leaders and  jump in with both feet and get wet. Lots of good finds to read!!!     Wink
