It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Go Up Go Down

When I turn it on it chimes 3 times to say the batteries are good, then I get the humming noise but if I try to detect anything I don't get any response or change in the sound, I have  tried a lot of different things such as new coins, old coins such as 1933 florin, gold rings etc but don't get any sort of change of sound.
Not sure if it is possible the coil a checking it with a multimeter I get continuity from 2 of the terminals but nothing from the other 2.
I would be grateful for any help or suggestions of what else it might be.

Thanks from across the ditch
Noel

Thanks for your reply
Its a Garrett Beach Hunter AT3
I bought it s/hand as I want to get out in the shallow water, rather than use my Minelab X-terra 50, that way I don't have to worry about getting it wet
