Oldcoon, After reading your post got to thinking about it and I remembered seeing a school which was shut down but still belongs to the county. County properties are my favorite. I find them in the Property appraiser's records. Our appraiser has aerial maps that go back to 1989. I found one property which had a house on it up until 2005 and then it was removed to make way for a park. All that is left of the house location are two giant oak trees that were in the yard. They have yielded up coins. Thank you for reminding me about the school.

Welcome Bob, the one thing to always remember is that it is NEVER hunted out. I have gone over many places that are well traveled by md's and still seem to come up with some coins, i have hunted this path to the river where i live at least ten times and yesterday i pull out a 1967 quarter, so they are still there just keep going back.

oh I agree 100% with you - keep MDing the area over and over again - you just never know what might trigger that BEEP!

Welcome...I've used a Shadow X2 And it's a real good detector for trashy places. The one I used had a 7" coil and I didn't get a chance to use it very much...but I could tell it worked nicely.

thanks for the feedback about the Shadow X2. I currently use a super 9" on mine and really enjoy the results.  Just wish the ground wasn't so hard right now - makes for tough digging!
