Greetings Jam225, Greetings from rainy Florida. Went on a picnic this morning and carried my probe on my belt just in case there any coins around the picnic table. Found none but found  this tiny silver star. By 3:00 the rain set in and its now rained an inch. Oh well! there is sunshine on the forcast tomorrow.

Hello Jam.   Welcome to the forum from south-central Arizona where tomorrow's forecast is just about perfect for metal-detecting....which is good because it's way too wet to drywash.

Drywashing is  a method of concentrating gold when you haven't got water to run a sluice or any of the  more traditional methods.  Very popular in the Southwest and in Australia, although the Aussies have a different term for it and/or the equipment used.

The old timers used bellows machines.  Nowadays, most folks use a leaf blower or a vacuum or something similar to create the air movement.    Two big problems with dry washers are: 1)  The soil has to be extremely dry or it clumps up too much to separate out the gold and 2) because you're dealing with lots and lots of blowing dust, it is very dirty work.

Just came back from AZ and the Bradshaw area. Figures it would rain and snow nearly the whole time I was out there. I'll probably be back next year to spend the winter and prospect. Sunrise and sunsets are awesome to behold.

I can't argue with you on the sunrise and sunset bit.  The most beautiful sunsets I've seen have been in Arizona and New Mexico.   Other than it not being Texas, the only real complaint I have about Arizona is the summer heat.   Consequently we do as much outdoors as we can during the winter and then either move to high ground or limit ourselves to very early morning or very late evening outdoors during the summer.

So how much snow did you wind up getting?   (I know it's bad for me to speak lightly of the bad weather, but if it forces Congress to take a couple of snow days off, at least some good will have come out of it)

Only a foot or so on the ground here 20 miles north of Richmond VA. 3 feet in Baltimore and points north west of here. Temps in teens last night and tonight. More weather coming Tues and Wed. maybe this will be the last week of it for a while.

Same state ...same problem.  Tuesday is not looking good.  I'm about 10 minutes south of Harrisonburg and we have 20 inches on the ground.
