I'm new here, and I live in Windsor, Ontario Canada.  I was wondering if anyone can recommend a detector, and where to buy one in my area?  Thanks, and glad to be here!

Most of the big sporting good stores carry Bounty Hunters plus you can order by mail from Kellyco or other shops and save money. Ebay is also a good place to buy new and used detectors

Howdy from Arizona.

We've got a couple of members from your area.
When it comes to buying a metal detector, it's a lot like buying a car --- it's hard to know which one to recommend without knowing how much you want to spend, what you want to do with it, how serious you are about metal detecting, and maybe even what your favorite and least favorite colors are.  One thing to keep in mind no matter what route you go with a detector, it is basically an extension of your arm, so if you get the chance actually try holding and swinging the detector (and then try to imagine what it would be like to do that for  2 or 3 or more hours at a time).  The reason I point this out is that even beyond raw weight, some detectors are better balanced than others so they are easier to swing for long periods of time than other detectors of the same weight.   But balance is also an individual factor.   What is well-balanced for me might be awkward for you.

Go read some of our previous posts on choosing detectors on the beginners board.

Howdy from the other side of our great expanse of land.  I'm in Alberta Canada and if you are looking for a great place to buy, i just got mine from Kellyco.  They were awesome and helped me out with my first purchase Smiley

Thank you so much!  I didn't even think about weight/comfort, etc.  That is definately something I'll need to look into.  It's a purchase for my brother, who is mentally challenged.  Was going to be a surprise, but I think I should let him come with me, to make sure he's comfortable with it.  Thanks again!!
