Hello Blue427.......welcome.

It helps if you tell us something about where you plan to use the detector and what type of hunting you hope to do as well as your general budget. Use the Advanced Search option to search the entire forum for "best beginner detector" to get some ideas about what is available and where to look.

For the welcome . Been detecting on and off for 30 years . Made all my earlier detectors starting with simple BFO and PI detectors . I will be doing beach and also wood land so need a versatile machine . Having been looking at Whites and Fisher range in the $300- $400 . I will look around the site for some advice and will come back with a post
