Hello BuG......welcome to THunting.com.    You'll find that a lot of our members like to build (or at least modify) their detectors.... The rest of us can't tell a schematic from a cartoon.

So, what part of Germany do you live in?   I spent some time in the Eifel a long time ago.

BA in Arizona

I expect you are right about finding Roman stuff (and I know you'll find WW2 relics---be careful with those).   I used to enjoy the drives between Bitburg and Cologne.   A couple of Roman villas were being excavated between Cologne and Dusseldorf while I was living in Germany.

(and mcdonald's not selling beer in Germany seems downright uncivilized  Sad )

Yes there are quite a few roman areas in areas like Bielefeld,Dusseldorf and Wuppertal.

By the sounds of things, quite a few of us served our Countries in the Armed Forces, in the former West Germany.
