Hello,

My name is Mike and I live in Westchester County, New York. I have been away from metal detecting for over 20 years and have recently regained interest in it again. There have certainly been alot of changes since I last used a detector.

In the 1970's and 80's my parents owned NY Metal Detector in the Bronx, NY and were Compass Electronics Dealers. I used virtually all the models offered by Compass during that time and used the Coin Magnums & Judge 2 Automatics. My parents used the X100 when they came out and made many a great find. Beaches, parks, yards, old foundations, you name it.

So now I am older and have a little more time for myself, and have been looking at my idle detectors for a long time and decided to do it all over again. I still have my Judge 2 Automatic and recently bought a Whites Coinmaster 5500D Series 3 Black Box at a yard sale right in town. I was thrilled as it was in near perfect condition. I go to yard sales when I can and I have asked from time to time about metal detectors and never found one. So if it couldn't be a Compass unit, then the Whites was just as fine for me.

I am glad that I found you and look forward to getting back into the swing of things with all your help!

Mike M

Thanks Karl...

But my knowledge is limited to when I was using the detectors in the 1970's and 80's. After that I am kinda lost with all the changes to digital, etc.  I am sure that once I get back into practice that I will be able to hold my own using my analog units against the new ones. Its all about how you read the meter, listen to the sounds and interpret what your machine is telling you.

Dat's right , and I am sure u still have a vast amount of knowledge to share, there are still folks buying and using the old machines that they pick up in yard sales or estate sales etc. that will be looking for individuals like u for help.

Anyways Welcome Aboard !!

Hello and welcome from Arizona.   You'll find that the more things change, the more they stay the same.   The basics that helped you succeed back in the day will still help you today.
