Welcome from Kansas! Research! I have a soft spot in my head for Garrett, but check out our metal detecting by brand section to  get some great ideas that will fit your style of hunting or pocketbook. My opinion, Garrett Ace 250 to the AT Pro.

Thanks, for info, I haven't purchased my ace 250 yet, but am researching. so far its my choice. Can't wait to get started. As for bottle digging, we're tearing down an old house, not old enough 1935-45, and have found a trash pit filled with old bottles, a few cokes, Dr. pepper, old crisco bottles, nothing extremely valuable, but it has been a blast digging there. I've found some old snuff jars, poison jars, old blue milk of magn. bottles. there are a lot more to dig up, but weather has been bad here. we just wanted to expand on our adventures! Grin Grin

Hi, We're about 2 hours from Wiggins , I live on -east/central ms. My whole family already is in to bottle digging, and they can't wait to start metal detecting. we are researching a brand that would be good for us being beginners and all.

Hi  Redladyrelics

There are many good detectors out there, but like I tell everyone that's starting out and wants to buy a detector the first thing that you need is a budget, from there you can look at all types of detectors within your budget then post the detectors that you have selected and the guys will guide you in the right direction to make the best buy.

All the best
Xavier

Grin Thanks, I feel like the ace 250 is gonna be my pick. I have seen so many good videos on it that I truly like what I'm hearing and seeing. I found a new for 212.00 which is in my budget. At Kellycos I can get a pinpointer and extras for a little more. I think that is gonna be my best buy.
