After starting in the 50s detecting, by the late 60s I was Skin diving and detecting.  I have now moved to Shropshire and find that I am surrounded with history everywhere I look so have invested in the latest all dancing Deus.  In the past it was no different to now as more research decides just how succesful you are with useful finds.  However, one thing is certain, over 120 hours of walking in the last thee months and digging is keeping me fit.  At least I hardly notice the walking with the potential of the next dig.  At least it keeps me off the bike a little more so that must be a safer way to stay alive.  Great
The new Shropshire Ferret.

Hello Christian & Felolow Walkers,
Thank you for your welcome into the world of what others without imaginatgion seem to view as pie in the sky.  However, it's not about what I can share with you from my specific experience because this is based mainly on marine achaeology from the 60s.  From my past experience there is more done generally  in research than physical effort.  I am sure you know all about that!  Nothing knew there but it applies now to my use of combining technologies.
Two heads are better than one but I'm still a loner with a single phocus (not so good for socialising).  As I am surrounded with potential unspoilt countryside I am in a Dectorists' potential heaven in UK.   Now I am into saving a bit of physical effort walking and digging by being a little more circumspect in preparation.  Moreover, the prospect of the potential of the next find still has its excitement and produces an energy that could easily be more rewarded in paid employment - but you can't be too sure about that, can you, and the challenge is still motivating.  Praise the Lord for an all encompasing collection of hobbies that keep me fit.
