My name is John and I live in Aiken SC.  I am getting back into this hobby after not having done it for about 25+ years.  I use to have a Compass MD in the 80's, but I can't remember what model it was.  I found lots of cool things one of which was an old Tom Mix belt buckle that had a secret drawer, many silver coins, and 2 gold rings.  I just ordered a new Tesoro Vaquero and it should arrive tomorrow.  I was quite overwhelmed with all of the detectors out there and had to read a lot of reviews on-line to narrow it down.  I discovered there are a lot of very good detectors out there, the one I bought fit into a price range that worked for me with the options that that I feel are important.  When I bought my first detector, the internet wasn't around and I had 3 options at the local store, Whites, Garrett, and Compass.  I look forward to some good times....

Hello, John, and welcome to THunting.com.    You'll find the technology has changed, but the thrill of finding the hidden has not.  And most of what you learned in the past will still help you today.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
