That's a long way from me but you are in a historically important area. General Washington's Revolutionary War Army camped all over that area so the could engage the enemy in New York City and along the Hudson River. Civil War troops from all over New England grouped there and camped before being sent south by rail. There are a number of homes which were used by travelers on the Underground Railway from the deep south to Canada.

Your local historical societies should have more information for you.
