I am in Gainesville,FL.I am a first timer.My boyfriend is getting back into metal detecting,and I will be joining him.I love the outdoors and love collecting.I love reading history.Thank you Ocalasix for showing me the boards.

Well, as I said before I will probably have to hide some gold coins myself in order to keep my girlfriend Nicole going. However she has allready found an impressive collection of pulltabs so far ... Wink

I hope you two will make some great finds ... my girlfriend would like me to find some weeding rings asap Wink

Maria, which are in Germany had you been to?

You are right, Germany or Europe as a whole is still a real treasure hunting Eldorado. I have done some detecting with my US friends the Petersons and Carl Moreland and we made some very good finds. In Europe you even have the chance of finding things that are several thousand years old. As there is a vast variety of things to be found in Europe it is often good if you speciale on a certain field of collecting.

Next time you come to Europe you must make sure to bring your detector with you.

Treasure hunting laws are liberal in most countries with some excpetions like Italy (many archeological areas), Greece or Turkey (not Europe yet but will be part of the UNion within the next few years).

However doing some beach combing etc. is legal in just about any country.

Hello Christian,While in Germany,I traveled a little bit around the country,but I mainly stayed in Biturg.I also went to Paris,France while there.I would love to go back,and do some metal detecting there.That would definitely be the place for a new comer to start.

I have spent much of my youth in Paris. A very old and vivid city. Also great for a honey moon Wink

France has a very big metal detecting community by the way. So next time you take a flight across the big blue make sure to take two detectors with you

Christian-Yes,Paris is definitely for honeymooners.I enjoyed it there although I wasn't with the right person.It was a great two weeks of Europe history.
