As for as the sword and cap, Ur place has some interest. They  may have been left for a purpose, treasure may be near or the soldier could have discarded the pieces so that he would not have been recongized as an officer, when captured or surrendering.  If i were u i would do some more investigating on the area, if it was a camp, at any time for the japanese during the war or did they surrender near this area. It is an interesting area.
