Detecting Originally from Philadelphia I have been a treasure hunter for many years. It was much easier to find good spots on the east coast, but I have moved to Indiana and have no idea where I can go. I could find all the lute I wanted at sunrise on the Jersey beach. I found a bottle cap in my backyard yesterday. I am not one to detect where it is not allowed. Where I am allowed, I leave no trace behind. I also carry a little bag of grass seed with me incase I cannot mend the spot properly. I learned that from playing golf, I seem to dig deeper with a golf club than I do with a shovel. Well, I am happy to have found this forum and hope I can gain some good info and share what I learn.

Welcome Bill=I'm in Indiana too,  55 miles east of you in Albany, yep hard to find good detecting sites in Indiana, gotta use the imagination and talk to lots of people, i do lots of farmland, after crops are in, schools, tot lots, and anyplace that looks like people have been, you might hit the reservoir just outside of town, hit the boat launch area and all the misc fishing spots, soccer fields and such, but don't expect no GREAT finds, ya just gotta take what ya can get, high unemployment what it is, HH and good luck=stay in touch=Bugar

Go to your local book store and pick up a DeLORME Atlas & Gazetteer for Indiana (around 20 bucks).  This will list all your state parks, back roads, and recreational parks. I use this as my starting point for all my trips.
