Go Up Go Down

Just a quick Hello from Long Island NY

I've been reading the very helpful posts for a couple days.

I'm new to the hobby, after researching a little, I decided on a BH Pioneer 202 I picked up new for $130 on sale last September.  I found a few coins 5 minutes into the hobby, and got hooked... I also found the limitations of the machine... most of the "permitted" MD'ing is at the Atlantic shoreline, I found quickly that my 202 and salt water don't get along too good,...  then winter came.  This spring I'm learning much more, already picked up my $40 permit (if you live on LI, you need a permit for each breath you take).  So for now I'm banned to the dry sand area and parks, but at least now, after about 10 hours of reading, I understand the technology a little better (as opposed to just reading that one brand is better than the other)

So with all that said, here we go....

HH,
Rich

Thanks for the big welcome folks.

Took a little ride to Harbor Freight, and picked up 2 Cen-Tech Pinpointers today $16.99 each...
I read a whole lot of posts about it and the possible mods...  (switch, vibrate and sensitivity fine tune),
also read they're not too sturdy, so I picked up two.

Hmmm... out of the box the sensitivity seems just fine.
but we'll see how it works in the field, I understand air test might be a little misleading.

I didn't realize it had a light too, and I thought you had to turn the sensitivity knob everytime to turn it on...,
plus it comes with a nice pounch, but seems a little tight on the fit...
but I'm pretty happy to have something to speed up the pull-tab extraction  har-har...    Wink

Thanks again, and hope to post some finds soon.

Rich

Rich I love my Cen-Tech Pinpointer and like u , I bought two, still using the first one and have beat the living mess out of it. and it keeps on working , no mods on mine and works just fine. ur right the pouch is a little tight but a small slit on the side of the pouch that the button is on makes it a little easier.  Most of the time mine is in my vest pocket or back pocket and not in the case.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

and sure hope u make your money back on that permit !!

i got the Cen-Tech Pinpointer  first time I used it I got it dirty and the switch got messed up so took it apart cleaned it now my mod for it. Take a plastic bag cut a small hole on the bottom of the bag put it over  the pin pointer then a little slit so you can push the tuning knob through  then black electrical tape and tape it square works good and also quiets it down a little  Sheep
