Hello All

I am new to message boards and metal detecting...sure to make a few mistakes.
I live in Brantford Ontario
I don't have a detector yet because I tend to research the heck out of things. I haven't decided which one yet. Maybe a cheap detector and riverbank to start Grin

Hello, Barb.

Welcome from Arizona. We have quite a few members here from Ontario. A cheap detector will get you started, but I suggest you stay with one of the major brands......Garretts, Whites, Fisher, Tesoro, Teknetics, Bounty Hunter----in no particular order of preference. If you enter "best detector" in the search function at the top right of this page and search "entire forum", you'll come up with some good guidelines for deciding which detector is best for you. (and whatever people might tell you, choosing a detector is a lot like choosing a car....just because you're best friend likes Ford doesn't mean it's the right choice for you).
