Hiya Scott. I was headed out Sunday to look at a location on the Snake river I found last year. Dusted off the detector and put in fresh batteries. Then it started snowing and snowing... ah well soon I hope. It's been mild overall this winter at least so maybe later this week.

Welcome to the forum  Smiley

hmm fine gold hey, that means your a distance from its source, you have to find out which way the creek or river flowed and move furthur up stream towards it source those specks should get bigger if your a good prospector.

Yep you are correct Alan. Biggest problem with this area is flour gold is pretty much everywhere. Not in huge concentrations usually but spread all over, even in my back yard Smiley There are some historic mines all along the Snake but it was never a hot item like some of the other rivers. I'd expect some of the Owyhee drainage should have some decent gold though as some of the washes out Silver City way have color.

I finally got out for that hike last weekend, found some petroglyphs and old rock cabin but didnt quite make it to the campground. Ended up being a 6 mile hike. Next time Smiley Was good just to get out.
