Hell everyone, from Southeast Kansas, been detecting off and on since the mid 1970's. Have owned quiet a few detectors. Just bought a Tesoro Vaquero, never had one before thought I would try it. Figure I could pick up some pointers off of this forum. Hello

Hi Tomas, Nice to welcome you aboard. I was raised in SE Ks - near the center of Neosho Co. Not living around there now though. What's your favorite find so far? Sue

Hello Sue, one of my most favorite finds is a 1841 half dime. Found it with a white's xlt around 11" deep. My mind took me to that space in time before the civil war, wondering who's hands that half dime had passed through and what it was like in that day and age. That's why I've been hook on metal detecting for so many years.  Thanks for the welcome.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

1841 half dime is pretty cool. Understand about the coin - it's value back then, who lost it, and how no other person had touched it in all those years. Reaching into the past is a mental treat/bonus I never expected when I started detecting.
