Hey all.

Just a quick note to introduce myself.  My name is Rick, and I currently live in Milwaukee.

During the summer, I use a metal detector to hunt for whatever's hiding in the parks, playgrounds and beaches in my area, but in the winter months, I turn to a different type of "treasure"

I'm a remodeling contractor who specializes in Historic Preservation and Restoration.  When work slows down, I search abandoned, repossessed, and condemned houses for architectural elements, scrap metal, building materials, and personal possessions-basically anything that can be reused, repurposed or recycled.  The usable building materials get donated to Habitat for Humanity's ReStore, recyclables go to a local recycling center, and whatever else I find that can't be resold or reused in my business, gets donated to Goodwill.

Hoping to meet new people here and share stories, tips and hints.  Look forward to hearing from the other members.

Welcome from New Mexico.

Sounds like you have it going there.

Treasure is were you find it.
