 hello from the big island( Vancouver island )  hope all of you at the club are doing well, miss everyone, guy and myself are still kicking, haven't been doing much hunting on the big isle, but plan to. doing more fishing than detecting, tried a little gold panning, found one flake, plan to do more. a buddy from work has a few claims on the island and up north.
still trying to figure out this computer thing since I'm so computer illiterate
talked to Jim and Tracy in Edmonton a while back their doing well, and went to Randy's barbeque last august had a great time.
Hope to hear from some of you.

Hello Ernie Fisher . Welcome Back to Thunting .com  !!!! 

Those names sound familiar too .    Anyway I am just across the water from Vancouver Island , Visiting family and made some new great friends .

I was in Victoria when I was 10 , about 47 years ago when my family took me to Butchart Gardens .
I have been doing some reading , but is there still gold being found on the Island ??

hello Eugene
I've been living on v.i. for the last few years, Guy and I bought a duplex together. were like the mutt and Jeff team, most people that know us call us two grumpy old men. since being over here I haven't done to much detecting the last time was in Victoria visiting guy's daughter and son in law, picked up a barber  quarter 1905 and a little nickel 1800's both beach finds.
as for gold panning, I'm having a hard time trying to find some place to pan every thing seems to claimed and since I'm so computer illiterate I'm having a hard time finding exactly were the claims are from the internet. I know there are few areas one can do some recreational panning, and yes there is gold on the island! my buddy from work has been to busy to have time to  talk about his claims, I do know he has found gold on them. He has a claim up near Barkerville and was up there this last summer, I hope to find time to talk to him but were so busy at work it's  hard to find time, I heard he has a web page,
