Welcome from New Mexico.

Never ran that machine but like all machines it's just boils down to time you spend with it.

1.  Dig it all until you learn what it's telling you.

2.  If it has Preset settings on the controls, use them until you think it's time to experiment.

3.  When you get brave,  modify your settings ONE control at a time until you understand what it's doing.

4.   Soon you will have a handle on what you can do and not do.

5.   Time, Time, Time.

LOL!    I will use what ever is within 50ft.

I use old time machines like the Garrett S3

                                              Garrett Master Hunter

No good stuff as of late.

Weather down here is on the crappy side.

Jellboy, welcome from Arizona.   If you go to the homepage and then scroll down to the minelab page (or type "safari" in the search window at the top right of this page and search the entire forum), you should find a lot of posts on the safari.
