I've just gotten an interest in constructing a detector after a chance find of a lapel badge in the back garden - I'm wondering what else might be out there!
The badge was for the electricians union between 1889-1939 and looked like this (but was not in such a pretty condition!)

Starting out with a PI design from scratch
to record what I'm getting up to. If I get the bug and complete a usable bit of kit I might even venture further out than the garden Smiley

There is one partial kit being offered here and a bare PC board for a PI detector. Look for posts by Silverdog using the search block at the top right corner.

Thanks again GD. I'm impressed by the breadth of electronic techniques employed in the single approach of Pulse Induction alone. There's an awful lot to read up on!

Going back to the find of the lapel badge, I've been wondering how it got there - it wouldn't be very surprising if my house was on a street in a town, but it's a new-build on a plot that was formerly a field at the edge of open countryside. The nearest built-up area is still quite jog away. However, there are Electric pylons crossing the fields half a mile or so away.
