Hi there, I'm from Malaysia ,27, chinese.
It's been awhile I got hooked up to this,Watching hunting vids, googling Metal detecting then I got link to this site.
I'm trying to get a detector but its quite hard to find 1 in Malaysia, On ebay theres so many brand and some starting from USD100 to even more than 1k....
IS there any device that are suitable for beginners? I dun wan to reach too deep in my pocket though.

Is there any suggestion??

Hello Btang.   Welcome to the forum.   If you will use the search function at the top of the page and search the entire forum for "best detector" or "best beginner detector", you will find that has been the subject of much discussion.   General recommendation would be to buy a good used detector rather than a brand new detector as you can usually get a better detector that way for the price you would pay for a less reliable new detector.....Just be careful when you buy used.

Garrett makes some very good, very reliable detectors.   My wife has both a Garrett and a Bounty Hunter.  She much prefers the Bounty Hunter.

BA
ooooops.....I meant to say she much prefers the GARRETT over the Bounty Hunter.   Since she got her used Garrett, the Bounty Hunter has stayed in the closet...... I should pay more attention to what I type.

I also like my older Garrett GTAx 1250.

WELCOME,  C'mon in,  and I would reccomend the  Garrett, about any of them are good, and one thing, if you ever have a problem, (very seldom does this happen) THE SERVICE IS GREAT, WARRANTY OR NOT,, Probably an Ace 250, you can use it for  the things you mention, and many people are around to answer questions. Wise Welcome

yes, that's the 1 I'm considering it, the Garrett ace 250. But buying 1 in malaysia is costing like USD670 while on ebay USD300 including shipping to Malaysia. The poblem is that if I buy 1 on ebay there will be like no warranty for me . Sad Sad Kiss

I am still in the learning process but am more inclined to make my own than purchase one. I have seen a couple examples where people controlled all aspects of signaling with a small computer.
