Hi Susie
Youll never regret getting a detector every day you go out its like a mystery tour you never know what youll come home with , just leave thoes big bronze lifesavers in the sand where you found them.  lol
Stick with this forum and youll learn plenty of tricks with your new detector , some of these guys are a walking encyclopedia when it comes to how to find stuff.

If youre going to dedicate your detecting to the beach mainly, you might think about getting a waterproof detector . why?  because a lot of people I talked to said that they do a lot of their searching right on the waterline at low tide and if you are tempted to get down near the water  remember salt water and electronics dont mix .   One drop of water inside your detector and " poof"  end of detector.
Underwater detectors are a bit dearer but in the long run it might pay you to get one in the end .  Not only that it is easier to put your detector down when your trying to dig that deep hole .

Christian , Bud , Beachcomer or Paul might like to put straight on this one there are plenty of other people who have all- round experience in that area as well . Im  in Australia , although we have access to every brand of detector our prices are a lot higher to buy imported detectors . so I stick to Minelab they are Aussie made ( well most of them )
