 :Smiley  I was so happy to come upon this site.  Searching for meteorites and other treasures is something I've thought about for years.  I retired two years ago and spent a lot of my time painting (which I love) but I need to get outdoors. 

I don't have a clue about where to start but I think this site will help.  I was wondering about beaches?  We have 26 miles of beach and occasionally I see someone out with a metal detector.  I know there are treasures to be found, but are there possibly meteorites?

I look forward to reading all that is offered here.

I know out west there are a lot of metorites found but I know someone in this forum can
give you better info then I. Also you can find a view vidieos on "YOUTUBE". Just type it in.

Thanks!  There is so much info here it will take me a while to get through it.  From what I've read, there's not much in the way of meteorites to found near beaches, but I am researching an area in Alabama that isn't too far away!  I'm excited!

Hello Biloxi--I am just up the road from you and have been MDing for about 40 years.Meteorites don't do too well down here in our high rainfall and humidity,but out west in the desert they can be found.I have a pocket full,but for the first 7 years of finding them we thought they were just hot rocks!!! Good luck to you--this is a wonderful hobby.
