Hi, I`m dimi from Greece, a wonderfull place for treasure hunters. In my country took place a lot of events (Greece-Tourkish war, balkan war, ww2 war, civil war...) and people there forced to hide their valuables.
You can hear interesting stories about treasures, everywhere in country and a large portion of people in Greece have the hobby of finding treasures, including me, of course...
It`s nice to meet your community and please overlook my mistakes in english language..
Thank you...  Smiley

Hi Dimi and welcome aboard. Greece has lots of history - good luck retrieving some of it. Your English is fine.  Sue

Welcome from New Mexico.

I was in Greece back in the 80's for three years and as a USAF Military Person could get 10 years in the clink just for having a Detector.

I found 50 rings, 20 chains just with snorkel and mask in Glyfada fanning the cuts.

What is the Current Laws?

The conditions are difficult in Greece for treasure hunters. You are right Homefire about the law. The owner of a metall detector must be state licensed, and every time go for research to inform the police about his movements. But, as you know, most hunters break the law...
Greece is a huge archaeological place and it`s necessary the stringent control. Illegal excavations of ancient objects took place every day in the country...
