Hi  all,

I'm new to this site even though I've been detecting for many years now!
I am particularly interested in Ground Penetrating Radar and wondered if anyone has any experience using this equipment as well as Magnetometers and Resistivity Meters and how they can be used in conjunction with Metal Detectors. I have a an excellent Minelab E-Trac (becomes a bit heavy after several hours detecting) and also a backup machine being a Minelab Xterra both of which have produced excellent finds. I'm also looking into building a GPRS or Magnetometer / Resistivity Meter and wondered if anyone else has done something similar and what the results were? Many thanks for reading this, Marc

Hi BA, thanks for the welcome  Hello. I had a great weekend here in the UK, out detecting on Sat & Sunday with my club. Found a nice Roman T brooch (1st / 2nd cent) and a 15th / 16th cent Purse Holder! I will try to post some photos when I get a moment!

Hi Marc and welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing your new finds. I'm sure you've made plenty previously. What's your favorite so far? Sue in Kansas

Welcome Marc, from the South in New Mexico.

I lived in the UK for 5 years about 100 years ago.

Kinda messed up the took the FireArms away.

They just changed from them to Clubs, Knifes and Swards. , Eaaaa?

I have a Mag on the back burner.   I have about 1/2 the parts and working on the rest.

Some day  I'll get there.

Hi Sue,

I live not that far from where the Romans first arrived when they invaded Britain in 43AD. For my best find to date, I have a Silver Denarius of Mark Antony approx 38BC and the writing is still legible (LEG X - the 10th Roman Legion) even after 1800 yrs! Other finds are mainly Roman coins, like Sestertius and Minims. I have also found 2 x Roman 1st to 2nd century brooches - one of which amazingly still works. When out detecting with my club, we also find a lot of Medieval coins, i.e. silver hammered from all our previous monarchs covering over 1000 years. When I get a moment I'll post some photos / scanned images of my finds for all to see.

And to think that here in Arizona, we get excited about anything that is pre-statehood (1912)    Cry

Wow - for a coin that old to still be legible and the brooch to still work - that is just amazing. Like I said to another new member from your country - you folks are so fortunate to have such a variety of things, from so many different times, to find. Sounds like you're living in a good area for fascinating detecting adventures. Sue
