Bounty Hunter 840, Ace 250

Hi All,

I have a really old Bounty Hunter 840 in the shed...don't even know if it works anymore.  I've been using an Ace 250 for a little while...since I have nothing current to compare it to, I'm really impressed with it's ability.  The only thing I'll need for the upcoming season is a big-little headphone adapter....the one I have isn't snug anymore.  And from what I've read, things might sound better in the headphones once I tape the coil cord to the shaft....can't wait to see how that gets rid of the phantom beeps.

Unfortunately, the temp outside is -10C, so poking holes in the ground to improve my pulltab collection is going to have to wait for a couple more months.

Hi David,
Welcome.  We're happy to have you here.   From what I've gathered reading other members reviews, the Ace 250 is a pretty good "entry level" machine---especially once you master the quirks.  You'll find lots of tips specific to that machine in these forums.   As for the tip of taping the coil cord straight until you reach the upper shaft and then wrapping it only around the upper shaft, I'm going to try that on my wife's older Garrett.

I think I'll keep the old 840 in the shed.....I seem to remember it was extra hungry for 9 volt batteries.   The 250 is extra stingy on those double A s.

Hello David! Hope that your weather will soon improve. But don't worry. It isn't any better (yet) in Germany.

Best wishes,

Christian
